Spring 2025 Free Tree Seedling Distribution
To date the Adams County Planting Partnership (Adams County Conservation District + Watershed Alliance Of Adams County) has distributed over 87,000 native tree and shrub seedlings. These seedlings have been provided as part of the Keystone 10Million Trees (K10) program. This spring our group will receive just over 4,500 seedlings from the K10 program. An additional 400 white pines purchased by the Watershed Alliance will bring the total allotment of around 4,900 seedlings. We have requested a much larger number of seedlings but as the program comes to an end we are being given much less than in the past sessions.
We are striving to get native trees and shrubs in the hands of local partners who have the property and ability to get them planted. For planting success, evaluate the choices using this tree and shrub information to select species that will best suit your location and needs. Each TREE will come with a shelter, stake, zip-ties, and bird-netting. Shelters are no longer recommended for shrub seedlings.
We will make every effort to fulfill your requested species and amounts, however, due to availability and ordering stipulations we cannot guarantee your exact request.
Planting labor must be organized by the person requesting the trees and shrubs. In order for Keystone 10 Million Trees to track their goal of planting 10 million trees, landowners must agree to share where they are planting, before/after pictures if requested, and details on how the trees are planted.
The request form will be in 2 parts.
PART 1 will allow you to submit your request and place a temporary hold on seedlings until Part 2 is submitted.
PART 2 will include all of the “business” part of the request form. PART 2 is necessary information required by the Keystone 10 Million Trees program for tracking of the plantings.
Your request will not be valid unless PART 2 is submitted. We are asking that Part 2 be submitted within 10 minutes of Part 1.
There will be no alternate dates for pick up. If you cannot pick up on April 10th or 12th please do not submit an order. If you find after submitting your request that you will not be available for pickup please let us know ASAP so the seedlings can be redistributed.

More trees=cleaner water.
The Adams County Planting Partnership is made possible by the resources of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership, which aims to plant 10 million native trees and shrubs in Pennsylvania by 2025. Since we joined forces in 2018, we’ve grown from just 500 trees distributed in 2018 to more than 87,000 trees planted in Adams County by the end of 2024!
Our role is to help distribute native seedlings here in Adams County, to folks like you with anything from acres of land to a small backyard in need of some cooling shade.
How it works
You can participate in the Adams County Planting Partnership (formerly the ACCD Annual Tree Sale) by requesting free tree or shrub seedlings for planting on your property within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
The Planting Partnership reserves native trees and shrubs through the Chesapeake Bay Foundations's Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership to make available to landowners who wish to become our planting partners. Partners agree to share where the trees are planted and provide a picture of their planted trees and shrubs. Each tree and shrub will come with a plastic shelter tube, stake, zip-ties, and bird-netting. Partners may request up to 100 plants on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ll do our best to get you the seedlings you request, but we can’t guarantee requests.
